Well, not really. More like âretractedâ. But I thought it would make a good headline. I have been housecleaning here at the stack, updating some posts and pulling others. Deleting thread posts where nothing happened.
The posts that I pulled are back in draft, waiting for their fate to be decided. Iâve learned a few new things over the past few years (thatâs an understatement, of course), and the pulled posts, which deal with âscience stuffâ, need more work than I have time to spare right now. A few of the early and more benign ones in that regard may still be visible.
Iâve also added my first name and last initial to my bio, and I may plug my far2go.net domain back into the stack, when time permits. If I do, it will be these same pages and not anything else. The old site is gone, including its CDN1 cache of forbidden reports.
Early on, when I started this blog I was aiming to post about once a week. That goal has died, as my retirement is looking ever less retired. I do have something in the early conceptual/draft stage, partly philosophical (not a strong area for me) and partly biblical (stronger there).
Content Distribution Network. I hosted videos there directly, rather than linking to You-Know-What. Until one day I discovered that the commercial (i.e. paid for) video viewer I was using was full of spyware (or something). I had installed new security software on the site and alarms went off.
And about the history of Christian music, like everything else in this world, it's probably not what it appears to be. I've learned things about some of the great composers that I wish I never had, such as who and what they were connected with. But we'll see.
Choir is a whole LOT of work, every week, 2-hour rehearsals during the week, learning new music (or relearning things we've done before), practicing at home, coming in early on Sundays for final rehearsal, and then singing half a dozen pieces or so, not just anthems, and staying up there the whole service the last Sunday of the month. I'm not much good at memorizing any more, so I sight-sing with what's left of my sight.
And I very much miss it. I have been listening to some of the anthems posted here. We're scheduled to resume September 15th, having already had two rehearsals, one on a Saturday, choir bells, and orchestra.
Screens aren't scheduled that far out, so I don't know what my first Sunday back in choir will be. Given the upcoming election, if we have one, and the insanity of our rulers, I don't know nothin' for sure.
