Three anthems today, for Easter — prelude, offertory, and postlude. We enjoyed singing them all, but Cantar! was the most fun.
Easter Song
Easter Hymn of Praise
Cantar!
It’s not easy to juggle this many voices and instruments! I am more than happy to be singing, and no longer running sound. During the warmup, the director asked the orchestra to curb their enthusiasm a little so that the choir could be heard. Someone in the orchestra then remarked that they couldn’t hear the the choir. To which someone from the bells replied (at my prompting — we in the back need for someone to relay) “if you can’t hear the choir, you’re too loud!”

Thank you! We are still seeing greatly increased attendance at the "classic" (translation" "old people's") Easter services, of which we do two each year, the other on the Saturday afternoon before (not streamed or recorded). That's very encouraging. Between classic and contemporary, the whole place was full today. This church has been around for 60 years, and has a good relationship with the surrounding community.
Some of the other service music hymns (all Easter-themed) were so classic that I don't remember ever hearing them before, let alone singing them. Some of those had lovely barbershop-style harmonies. It may have been my first time to sing that style in a choir, or anywhere else. Mmmh. Love those accidentals.
Thank you! Happy Easter!
Beautiful!
Happy Easter, Clear!
Just lovely!! Thanks for sharing your church's Easter Sunday celebration with songs of praise and instrument.
