I was all set to go this morning, but by the time it was time to leave, I wasn’t feeling well enough to drive and was too dizzy to climb risers. Two weeks in a row of this! From the size of the choir, I would say I was not the only one with problems. At least the altos came through well on the recording.
We are not a professional musical group, but there are some excellent voices, and there’s the rest of us, doing what we can. We might look better without the music folders, but we sing a lot of music, not just anthems, with frequent variations and detailed harmonies, and lately we have not even had much opportunity to practice together well in advance. Fortunately, many of us sight-sing, and besides, folders are traditional.
It’s quite a bit of work, and it hurts when I can’t be there after all the preparation, but it’s part of what keeps me going, it makes a difference for others, and I will continue as long as I am able.
