That is a lovely hymn and it sounds familiar. I attended a Congressional Bible church growing up and I have always enjoyed singing the hymns of all types. My favorite is "How Great Thou Art" but we don't sing it enought at my church so I sing it at home to worship and praise my Heavenly Father. Thanks for sharing.

This anthem was perhaps a little more challenging for us than it should have been, thanks to spring allergies. I would be glad to do it again, but maybe in early spring? It's about 68 years old, but the words go back much further. Did you see the linked story?

It's a favorite of our stand-in choir director for this last month. We're completing a transition after the previous worship pastor retired one year ago. The new one starts next Sunday, and he was to be found singing in the bass section this last Sunday, a very good sign.

This church is unique in these parts (Northern California) in a number of special ways. Just having a choir and orchestra still is unusual -- let alone three bell choirs, adult, older kids, and younger kids -- and having a classic service & choir is quite unusual. _How Great Thou Art_ regularly appears in the worship set, or as the sermon response. I can't think of another church I have belonged to as an adult where that was true.

This one is rather like churches I attended growing up in the 50's and 60's, but larger. I still remember the feeling walking into that sanctuary for the first time when it re-opened two years ago after remodeling. Apart from the projection screens and livestream equipment, it was like going back 60 years. The building isn't that old, but the congregation just celebrated its 60th.

The teaching here is solid, as far as it goes (I could ask for more), and there are still a number of other churches around here that are similar in that respect. Still, I have to be careful not to become attached, having seen again and again what can happen, but I am grateful for this place while it is here.

I know what you mean about going to church in the 50s and 60s and having adult and children's choirs. Sunday evenings we had a children's singing event in the basement. We loved it. I now belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and we are still singing our hearts out to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ!
