Merciful God

A lovely choral arrangement of the contemporary hymn Merciful God gave us brief rest from anthem practice as we approach Easter, or as the distributor’s page phrases it, “… a worthy arrangement that is a lovely offering of thanks to an always faithful and forgiving Father. Rehearsal requirements are minimal.” It just flows out. Of course we did practice, but it came together quickly.
What was difficult about this piece was singing the lyrics (verse 2) “Merciful God, O abounding in love, Faithful through times we have failed You; Selfish in thought and uncaring in deed, Foolish in word and ungrateful.“ Ouch. It brings back too many memories.
