This week we did “compact choir”. That’s what happens when not all that many show up for rehearsal the week before, and about the same number show up on Sunday.

There is a skip in the recording just as the singing begins. It wouldn’t matter much, except that the timing of the starting note was a little tricky, and we had practiced it over and over!

Due to a service order change, we sang the anthem as the call to worship, after the prelude. Those people walking around up front were among the latecomers.

This anthem is We Walk By Faith, words by J. Paul Williams, music by Jan Sanborn, based on II Corinthians 5:7-9.

It begins with the chorus:

We walk by faith and not by sight.
We trust in God and not in might.
For in our darkness He is light.
We walk by faith, and not by sight.

I don’t think this is how most people go about their lives. It is a different approach, one that I like to point to here and in my comments elsewhere. It’s looking pretty dark right now. These lyrics express my feelings better than I know how.

2Cor. 5:7-9 NKJV For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.
